Paola Pivi is a contemporary Italian multimedia artist best known for her feathered-covered neon polar bear sculptures. Often displayed in playful positions, the artist has said that the starting point for her life-sized bear works were inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s "readymades." "My thinking does not come from the place or the animal. It comes from this abstract process we all have, this subconscious, the brain." Born in 1971 in Milan, Italy, she studied at the Milan Art Academy “to learn to draw” as the artist put it.
