Emilio Scanavino was an Italian artist known for his contributions to Abstract expressionism and Arte Informale. Born in 1922 in Genoa, Italy, he pursued his education at the Art School Nicolò Barabino in Genoa and the Faculty of Architecture at the Milan University. Scanavino was influenced by Mario Calonghi and was associated with notable peers such as Phillip Martin, Eduardo Paolozzi, Graham Sutherland, Francis Bacon, Lucio Fontana, Asger Jorn, Corneille, Roberto Matta, Wifredo Lam, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Enrico Baj, Sergio Dangelo, Roberto Crippa, Gianni Dova, Agenore Fabbri, and Aligi Sassu.
