Kurt Seligmann

Kurt Seligmann, also known as Kurt Leopold Seligmann, was an American and Swiss artist associated with Surrealism. He specialized in painting and engraving, often depicting medieval troubadours and knights in macabre rituals. Born in 1900 in Basel, Switzerland, he studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. Seligmann was part of a circle of notable peers including Wolfgang Paalen, Yves Tanguy, Kay Sage, Serge Brignoni, Gérard Vulliamy, Hans Bellmer, Jacques Hérold, Óscar Domínguez, Richard Oelze, Jean Hélion, and Alberto Magnelli.
