Jessie Arms Botke was an American artist born in 1883 in Chicago, Illinois. She was known for her depictions of birds, particularly white peacocks, geese, and cockatoos. Botke studied at the Chicago Art Institute, Illinois, and was influenced by artists such as John Christen Johansen, Charles Herbert Woodbury, and Albert Herter. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades including the Englewood Woman’s Club Prize, Martin B. Cahn Prize, Chicago Artists’ Medal, William O. Thompson Prize, First Prize ($500.00), and Tucker Prize. Her work has been exhibited at the Irvine Museum and the Museum of Ventura County. Botke passed away in 1971 in Santa Paula, California.
