Howard Chandler Christy (1873–1952) was an American illustrator and historical painter born on January 10, 1873, in Morgan County, Ohio. He studied at Ohio State University and later at the Art Students League of New York. Christy became well-known for his patriotic themes, especially his famous work "The Signing of the Constitution" and his depictions of women in various historical and idealized settings.
