Eddie Martinez is an American artist best known for his scrawling and colorful paintings depicting expressive humanoid figures and object-like forms. Reminiscent of the attitudes espoused by both Philip Guston and Karel Appel, Martinez utilizes oil paint, spray paint, and studio detritus in producing his gritty yet elegant paintings and sculptures. Born in 1977 in Groton, CT, he was a resident at the Bauernmarkt, Lenikus Collection in Vienna and has been the subject of exhibitions with Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
