Luigi Ghirri

Luigi Ghirri was an Italian photographer known for his color images of gardens, monuments, and the studio of Giorgio Morandi. Ghirri’s curiosity with scale and illusion often gave his pictures a dream-like atmosphere. “They alter the perception we have of the world without proposing a single path to follow, rather they provide us with the tools we need to find the one we’re looking for,” Franceso Zanot wrote of him. Born on January 5, 1943 in Scandiano, Italy, he worked as a surveyor and graphic designer before starting to photograph professionally at the age of 30.
