Anselm Reyle
(German, born 1970)
Anselm Reyle is a contemporary German artist. Known for his work with found objects and the medium of the painting, he examines the notion of taste in contemporary art, remarking that “someone once said that my art always looks a bit like a film set, as if someone’s saying we need a bit of Modern Art in the background now. I liked that, and it’s right that it is usually the cliché of something that interests me.” Among his most revered work is his African sculptures series, which consists of bronze casts coated with chrome derived from handmade, kitschy items found in African tourist shops.
