Ubaldo Gandolfi

(Italian, 1728 – 1781)
Ubaldo Gandolfi was an Italian artist known for his work in biblical, mythological and allegorical subjects, portraits and nudes. He was associated with the Baroque and Neoclassic art movements. Born in 1728 in San Matteo della Decima, Italy, he studied at the Clementine Academy. His notable peers included Gaetano Gandolfi and Mauro Gandolfi, and he was influenced by Ercole Graziani the Younger, Felice Torelli, and Ercole Lelli. Gandolfi passed away in 1781 in Ravenna, Italy. His works are exhibited in the Museum of North Carolina and the Quadreria of the Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili.
