Jules Joseph Lefebvre

Jules Joseph Lefebvre was a French painter born in 1836 in Tournan-en-Brie, Seine-et-Marne, France. He was known for his portraits and single figures of beautiful women. Lefebvre studied under Léon Cogniet at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. His works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Hermitage Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Pera Museum. He was a recipient of the Prix de Rome, was an Officer of the Légion d'honneur, named Commander from 1898, and a Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. Lefebvre passed away in 1911 in Paris, France.
