Eugen von Blaas

Eugenio de Blaas (24 July 1843 – 10 February 1931), also known as Eugene von Blaas, was an Italian artist associated with Academic Classicism. Born in Albano, near Rome, to a Tyrolean father, Karl, who was also a painter and professor at the Academy of Venice, and an Italian mother, Agnesina Auda, he moved to Venice as a child. His early exposure to art through his father’s teachings set the foundation for his career.

Blaas is best known for his genre scenes, often depicting Venetian society and portraits, alongside some religious works.
