Alberto Vargas
(American/Peruvian, 1896 – 1982)
Alberto Vargas, whose full name was Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chávez, was an American and Peruvian artist known for his work with watercolor and airbrush. He specialized in pin-up girls, and his work was influenced by Raphael Kirchner. He was a peer of George Petty. Born in 1896 in Arequipa, Peru, he later moved to the United States and passed away in 1982. His works have been exhibited at the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas.
