Derrick Adams
(American, born 1970)
Derrick Adams is a multidisciplinary artist working in performance, video, sound and 2D and 3D realms. His practice focuses on the fragmentation and manipulation of structure and surface, exploring self-image and forward projection. The ongoing collage series, "Deconstruction Worker," is motivated by architectural vocabulary. Influenced by the exploration of the urban dweller, Adams implements geometric constructions of human figures in an ambiguous state between construction and deconstruction. Derrick Adams was born in Baltimore, MD in1970, he received his BA from Pratt Institute and his MFA from Columbia University and is an alumnus of The Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture.
