Guy Laramée is a contemporary Canadian artist best known for his symbolic sculptures that portray a loss of information, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. His works often depict half-eroded objects like dictionaries, but also appear to be disintegrating mountain ranges, using both objects as a means to convey decay. “The erosion of cultures—and of ‘culture’ as a whole—is the theme that runs through the last 25 years of my artistic practice,” the artist explained in 2012.
