Jörg Sasse is a contemporary German photographer known for his digitally manipulated images. One of his best-known prints is 8144 (1988), which showcases beachside lamps glowing brightly against an evening sky. “I would never place a work in the public domain that I myself couldn't stand in front of and be amazed,” he has said. Born in 1962 in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, he studied under Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1982 to 1988. His early works were largely serial documentations of display windows and colorful still lifes. However, in 1994, Sasse stopped taking his own photographs, and began manipulating the pictures of others. The first photos he worked on were city and landscape images taken...
