Heinrich Campendonk

Heinrich Campendonk, full name Heinrich Mathias Ernst Campendonk, was a German artist known for his work in decorative art, printmaking, and stained-glass. He was associated with the Der Blaue Reiter movement. Born in 1889 in Krefeld, Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, he studied at the Handwerker- und Kunstgewerbeschule. His work was influenced by Johan Thorn Prikker. He was contemporaries with Helmuth Macke, August Macke, Wilhelm Wieger, Franz Marc, and Paul Klee. Campendonk passed away in 1957 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His works are part of the collections at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Kunstmuseum Bonn, and Wilhelm Hack Museum.
