MARCK is a contemporary Swiss artist known for his melding of sculpture and video installations. The artist’s use of sculpted metal frames to confine his videos of women, function as metaphors for the boundaries women face in society. “The woman moves gracefully searching for a way out, seemingly unaffected by the hopelessness of her situation, yet never losing faith in her ability to break out,” he mused. “This struggle, familiar to all of us since birth, the fear of failure and ultimately death.” Born in 1960 in Zurich, Switzerland, MARCK worked as a handyman in his hometown for much his life before focusing on producing art.
