Patricia Piccinini
(Australian, born 1965)
Patricia Piccinini is an Australian artist born in 1965 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She currently resides in Canberra, Australia. Her work, which includes painting, video, sound, installation, digital prints, and sculpture, often explores themes of unexpected consequences, bio-ethics, and future dystopias. "To me, art is really about having a conversation with others around ideas that are relevant and pertinent to our times," she has stated. Piccinini studied at the Australian National University, Canberra, and the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne.
