Henri Charles Manguin was a French painter associated withFauvism, working alongside such artists as Henri Matisse, André Derain, and Raoul Dufy. He most notably employed pastel hues to depict beach scenes and nude bathers on the French Riviera, capturing vivid scenes of turquoise Mediterranean waters and lush green vegetation. Born on March 23, 1874 in Paris, France, Manguin went on to study under Gustave Moreau at the École des Beaux-Arts along with Matisse and Charles Camoin.
