Gregory Amenoff is a contemporary American abstract painter who employs both biomorphic  forms in rich hues and thick textures. Exploring the formal language of American Modernism, Amenoff creates chimerical and illusive works. “Paintings are alternate worlds—worlds unto themselves, manifested by each artist to satisfy a desire to fill a void,” he has said. Born in 1948 in Saint Charles, IL, he moved to Boston after earning a BA in history from Beloit College in 1970.
