Graham Nickson

Graham Nickson is a British-born American painter best known for his brightly colored landscapes of dramatic skies and rolling countryside. His work fuses the older British school of landscape painters Joseph Mallord William Turner and John Constable with more current American painters such as Wolf Kahn. Nickson recalls being intrigued by painting as a very young child, saying the medium allowed him to showcase his imagination. Born in 1946 in Knowle Green, United Kingdom, Nickson went on to study at the Royal College of Art in London. He is the recipient of the Prix de Rome (1972–1974) and the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1989.
