Elizabeth Murray was an American abstract painter best known for her large-scale, shaped canvas works and cartoonish drawing style. Bordering on the sculptural, many of Murray’s paintings, including Bop (2002–2003), jut out from the wall, invading space with bold colors and disregard for traditional pictorial illusionism. “There's a kind of miracle involved with paint.
