"Peach Blossom" (2006) is an important and rare large-scale print in colors by Zhou Chunya, measuring 51.18 x 63 inches, is edition 12 of 20, and is in excellent condition. Filled with expressionistic sweeping loose brushwork and vibrant hues of reds, pinks and greens Zhou. fills his paintings and prints with lush foliage and flowers as see here, framing the male and female figures engaged in sexual acts as they rest in a tree branch. The emotive expressionism here manifests a merging of Chinese and Western forms of representation, inspired by German Neo-Expressionism as well as his background in traditional Chinese painting. Zhou Chunya (China, b. 1955) is considered one of the country’s most talented painters of figurative and nature compositions.

The artist was born in Chongqing, Sichuan Province and graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Art, China in 1982 as well as Kassel Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel, Germany. Zhou has had solo and group exhibitions in major galleries and museums internationally throughout Europe, the US, and Asia, including the Houston Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, US; the Museum of Art Modern Contemporary Trento, Italy; the National Art Museum, in Beijing, and many more . In 2011, his new world record at auction was set for the Artist. The artist currently lives and works in Chengdu, China.
