This print is from the formal "Amnesia & memory" series of poignant silkscreen and color lithograph prints by one of the most famous Chinese Contemporary artists working today, Zhang Xiaogang. (Chinese, B. 1958). This sublime image of one bright yellow leg and foot left bare, the other leg depicted in black and white, dressed in an un-laced black shoe and a black sock, with a thin, red unplugged electrical cord draped across both legs bisecting the scene. This is a surreal and sublime self-referential image by Zhang. This work is printed on Somerset 300g paper, is edition 84/88, in excellent condition with paper size is measuring 31.3 in. x 23.3 in. (79.5 cm. x 59.3 cm).

Zhang Xiaogang to become indisputably one of the most recognizable and significant Contemporary Chinese artist today, and he has enjoyed this status since the earliest days of the international art market in China, represented by the elite Pace Galleries. According to Sotheby’s his, “…hallmark images have become nothing less than visual shorthand for the entire category known as ‘Chinese contemporary art’." A painting by the artist recently set a record for the highest price ever paid at auction for a Contemporary Chinese painting.
