Lot Details

This stunning ink and color painting on paper stands as a museum-level example of the iconic dream-like portraits of young children by acclaimed Chinese Contemporary artist Zeng Jianyong (China, B. 1971). This work and has never been to auction prior, and stands as the most compositionally sophisticated and thematically poignant work by the artist to-date. Measuring an impressive 40.16 x 77.17 inches (102 x 196 cm), this is also one of the largest works Zeng has painted, is laid on panel and in excellent condition.

Zeng Jianyong graduated from the Chinese Painting Department, Huaqiao University and the Printmaking Department, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China. Recent Exhibitions include 2012:" Ink Aspect" Doulun Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai 2011: (solo) 'protagonist' Meilum Art Museum, Changsha, China; 2011: "Representation of Realistic Art:" Chengdu Biennale; 2008: (solo) "Growing" Eli Kelin Fine Art, NY and (solo) "The Header" traveling.
