Lot Details

Famous Chinese Contemporary artist Zeng Fanzhi is known widely for his “Mask” series of psychological figurative paintings, however his more recent landscape paintings have met with increasing critical and primary and secondary market success and are directly related to his abstract line-based ink works on paper as well. These frenetic, cool-toned, and hauntingly uninhabitable landscapes are said to speak to the tensions of failed community building and the loneliness of the human condition. "Untitled" (Landscape)" (2007) is from an edition of just 88, measures 22 x 30 inches, and is in excellent condition.

Zeng Fanzhi continues to live and work in Beijing and is widely sought after for exhibitions and collections. The artist has enjoyed solo exhibitions at Singapore Art Museum (2007), Muséed’ArtModerne de Saint-Etienne de Metropole, Saint-Etienne (2007), FundacionGodia, Barcelona, (2009), National Gallery for Foreign Art, Sofia (2010) and Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai (2010). He has also participated in. He has also been in numerous group exhibitions and biennales including the National Art Museum (Beijing), Kunst Museum Bonn, Kunstmuseum Bern, Santa Monica Art Centre, (Barcelona), National Art Museum, Singapore and Art Centre (Hong Kong).
