"One Morning The City was Golden" (1981) is a rare etching with gold ink on handmade xaan paper by famed female Indian post-Modern Artist Zarina Hashmi ('Zarina"). (Indian, b. 1937). Zarina Hashmi is arguably the most famous Indian artist of her generation. "One Morning the City was Golden" is a rare etching created by Zarina using gold ink to produce her famous minimalist style aesthetic. This and the second lot prsently live on artnet Auctions by Zarina are the first two to ever come to Auction by the artist to employ gold ink. The artist's minimalist works on paper were an important part of Indian's first Pavilion in 2011 at the Venice Biennale and Zarina is represented by the prestigious Luhring Augustine Gallery, where she had her last solo exhibition in 2009. Her work is in the collections of the top Museums and Collections world-wide.
