Lot Details

"Fairy Tale - Rabbit Girl" (2007) is a dynamic and ironic oil painting by Japanese Contemporary artist Yuichiro Ohmura and belongs to the artist's iconic series of "Fairy Tale" series of figurative oil paintings that all depict young Japanese women as part human, part rabbit, in an innocent yet subversive manner. This work measures 17.9 x 15 inches, (45.5 x 38 cm) is custom framed to larger dimensions (listed are approximate), and is in excellent condition.

Ohmura's works are identified by appropriation of popular culture images found in the mass media of the Westernized Japanese culture. The artist investigates the loss of purity and innocence of the Japanese society from traditional roots, questioning the humanity of such a contemporary culture. Ohmura has exhibited throughout Asia, with several solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Japan, and group shows in both Japan and Korea, including the Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo amongst others.
