"Quinault No.14" is a hauntingly beautiful color photograph by famed Japanese artist Yoshihiko Ueda (Japan, b. 1957) from his acclaimed "Quinault" series. This is edition 1 of 10, measures 28.75 x 22.83 inches (73 x 58 cm), is framed and in excellent condition. This is the first edition of this photograph to ever come to international auction.

While visiting the Native American Indian Quinault Forest in 1990, (outside of Seattle, WA, US) Ueda,who was then established as a fashion photographer, had a “moment of vision,” and decided to photograph the forest. He returned with an 8-by-10-inch camera to create the Quinault Series to which this image belongs. Ueda's sublime eye-level photographs capture his encounter with the forest in a sublime series of images where the greens and blues of leaves, moss, and grass are captured in tones that are nearly neon. This Series was published in the important book "Quinault: Yoshihiko Ueda" (June, 2010) amongst many other publications.

The artist was born in 1957 Born in Hyogo, Japan and graduated from the Visual Arts School in Osaka. In the 1980's he studied under various Japanese masters including Masanobu Fukuda and Taiji Arita. The artist has received multiple awards such as the Tokyo Art Directors Club Grand Prix, The New York Art Directors Club Photography Award, the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival Silver Prize for Graphic Design, and has exhibited in galleries in Tokoyo, London, Santa Fe, New Mexico, New York among other cities.
