Lot Details

This postwar Japanese newspaper illustration is a large format mixed media montage print composed of six gelatin silver prints with extensive airbrushing, mounted to a thick, irregular sized paper stock. This was an illustration on traditional Japanese dance and shows the same woman detailing dance steps. This was done by the art and photo department of the Yomiuri Shimbun Newspaper, one of the largest Japanese daily newspapers, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and used for publishing in 1957.
