Lot Details

"Crying No. 30" (2010) is a major oil painting by Chinese Contemporary artist Yin Jun, that belongs to his iconic "Crying" series. This Series focuses on cartoonish portraits of Chinese babies in adult dress and in grown-up situations, that Yin paints in the midst of a temper-tantrum, crying loudly with tears spring from their eyes and mouths wide open as they wail. The stunning palette of deep blues and pinks makes this one of his most stunning paintings to-date. Caught in what seems like an eternal state of distress, the exaggerated, emotional characters in Yin Jun’s paintings express his disappointments and struggles of an unfulfilled society in today’s materialistic world. This work is unframed and in excellent condition.

Born in the Sichuan Province of China in 1974, Jun was inspired to paint by his older brother, the famous Contemporary artist Yin Kun. With no formal art training, Jun entered the Deyang Fine Arts Academy and graduated in 1992. Jun’s work has been exhibited widely throughout China and has been the subject of solo shows at 9 Art Space, Beijing, China (2006) and Willem Kerseboom Gallery, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2007).
