"Butterfly" (1980) is a stunning watercolor and felt pen on paperboard painting by famed female Contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (Japanese, b. 1929). Kusama painted her most famous series of single butterflies on paper in 1979-80, to which this work belongs. The works in this seres all share similar comopsitions, dimensions, use of celebratory colors, as well as the intentional blurring of psychedelic patterns to represent the fleeting beauty of each butterfly's outstretched wings. This work measures: 10.75 x 9.57 inches (27.3 x 24.3 cm) is beautifully custom framed to larger dimensions (listed are appromimate, please see images) and is in excellent condition.
