"Dark Fragrance No. 5" (2005) is a stunning c-print photograph by famed Chinese Contemporary photographer Yan Zhixiong (China, b. 1979) of a beautiful nude Chinese woman in a dramatic, high-fashion pose that underscores her physical perfection, with a praying mantis perched upon the back of her neck. This image is edition 6 of 8, is unframed, measures 47.20 x 31.50 inches and is in excellent condition. Yan's artistic career was launched as one of China's top editorial fashion photographers and is famed in Asia and now Europe for his nude images that celebrate the female physique yet also possess a narrative that is both erotic and surreal. Influenced by fashion and editorial photographers such as David LaChapelle and Helmut Newton, Yan's work for editorial fashion assignments has always carried unabashed and deeply creative narratives, pushing the boundaries between high fashion and fine art.

The artist is a member of the British Royal Photographic Society and the China Photographers Association. He was born in Hunan Province in 1979 and now works in Beijing. He has held several solo fine art exhibitions; in 2010 at The Today Museum, China which featured his incredible range of his photographic images. Yan's works have won more than 70 awards and are held in Public and Private collections throughout China, Austria, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Hong Kong and Macao. Yan Zhixiong achieved China's highest individual photography award, the "Chinese Gold" and was awarded the "China Photographic Art" exhibition Portrait Photography Gold Medal as well. The artist lives and works in China.
