Lot Details

With a surface, painting style and tenor that reference both Chinese Ink Paintings and Western Abstract Expressionism, this magnificent oil painting on canvas is an highly important example of the large-scale works by celebrated Chinese Contemporary painters, Wang Yigang. This painting belongs to Wang's famous 'Abstracted Landscape' series where he deconstructs physical landscapes down to their very essences of depth, line and color in visceral yet meditative manners. Dimensions: 63 x 51.20 inches (160 x 130 cm) is unframed, in excellent condition.
Paintings by Wang of this caliber fetch well into the five and six-figures when they come to auction, (please see listed auction comparables below), making this painting an exciting investment opportunity. In 2012, The Soka Art Center, Beijing, hosted the most recent solo museum exhibition of Wang's abstracted landscape paintings, "In Between Color And Mood", accompanied by a published exhibition catalogue with the same title.
