This is the first time that this rare and exciting print has even been offered as a single lot at international auction. "Fortune-telling" (2008) a stunning print by famed Chinese Post-Modern artist Wang Yidong (China, b. 1955) that depicts a poignant and specific moment in time shared between the subject and viewer. The unabashedly rich hues of red create visual focus on the central beautiful young woman playfully sitting upon a bed predicting the future through her cards. In the background are bold wild patterns that contrast the calm poised young woman, a reflection of the traditional past and the potentials of the future. The tranquil expression and silent surroundings all heighten the sense of an intimate moment shared, as the future outlook interacts with the traditional Chinese culture, foreshadowing the painting's title. This print is edition 28 of 99, measures 39.37 x 30.7 inches, (100 x 78 cm) and is in excellent condition.

Wang Yidong was born in 1955 in the region of Shandong, China. In
1975 he graduated from the Shandong School Art, China with a Degree in Fine Art and in 1982 he graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China with his advanced degree in Painting. His realist oil paintings have made him the recipient of countless awards and exhibited world-wide, including India, China, Japan, France, throughout Europe and across the U.S. Museum highlights include: 2005: "2nd Annual Beijing Neo-Realism Group Exhibition", National Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing, China 1990" Group exhibition, Modern Art Museum, Dallas, Texas, US.1987: "Chinese Realistic Painting Show" (1987), Modern Museum of Art (MMOA), Santa Ana, California, US 1984: 'Golden Prize' award winner, "6th National Arts Exhibition", National Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing, China.
