Lot Details

"Madarazu-7" (2009) is a dynamic and super-vivid large-scale painting by Japanese Contemporary emerging artist VIWA whose complex abstract paintings are inspired by traditional Edo-period Japanese landscape painting, a "Golden Age" in Japan for fine and decorative arts, yet the artist uniquely translates traditional compositions and calligraphy into his own modern, celebratory version of Japanese culture, filled with brilliant colors, controlled space and patterns, imbued with an influence of urban art and graffiti. This exciting painting measures 30.70 x 59 inches and is in excellent condition.

VIWA was born in Saitama Japan and received a BFA in Painting from Tokyo Zokei University in Japan in 2001. The artist has exhibited in galleries throughout Asia and Europe represented by top galleries including Karin Weber Gallery and Sunjin Galleries in Singapore. The artist currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.
