Vija Celmins began working with print publisher Gemini GEL, Los Angeles, CA, in the early 1980s. The fruits of this collaborative relationship explored the depths of the artist's pursuit of dual imagery composition. "Jupiter Moon - Constellation" is a fine example of a strong juxtaposition found in the softer rich black mezzotint plate of the upper image and the detailed hard line etching found in the bottom image. A lovely addition to the lower plate are two subtle etched lines making a double border surrounding the image of an inverse constellation/galaxy (ie black stars on white ground). Prints from this edition are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. in the Gemini GEL archives. This print is in excellent condition.
