"Kusama Rooftop Performance, No 10" (c.1970) is a controversial performance piece that examines the heyday of the 1970's rise of feminist and anti war art era, by Tokyo born Ushio Shinohara, (b. 1932) often referred to as "Guy-chan." Ushio is a critically acclaimed Contemporary artists who was among the only photographers who were present to capture polka dot dressed, most famous female Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's, rooftop performance piece in New York City in the 70's. These photos are the most clear and crisp documentation of this particular event with the original negative for this work from c. 1970. This print was published in 2010, is edition of 15 measuring, 11.81 x 15.75 inches, (30 x 40 cm.) and comes unframed in excellent condition.

Photographer Ushio Shinohara was born into painting, learning from his mother a Japanese painter, Joshi Bijutu Daigaku who instilled in him a love of Impressionist painting. Ushio, however left painting at the Tokyo Art University for other, more avant-garde forms of visual expression through media like photography and installation, initiating the rebellious "junk art" installations and helping to begin the Neo Dada movement, and has been attributed to inspiring Tokoy's avant-garde movement after the war. Ushio's global awareness of the world culture and surrounding events lead the artist to collaborate with some of the top expressive and conceptual artists who gave voice and vision to the international art world during this era.

Shinohara studied at the Tokyo Art University and moved to New York at the end of the 1960's to exhibit internationally in major galleries and museums like the National Museum of Modern Art,Tokyo; the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Korea; Centres Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Guggenheim, New York; The Japan Society, New York; Leo Castelli Gallery, New York; Museum of Contemporary art, Los Angeles among many others. The artist currently lives and works in New York, and has works included in the following public collections:
