Lot Details

On offer is a unique sculpture, measuring 32 x 20.5 x 37 inches.

"Antenna Deer" (1994) by Manhattan-based Japanese artist Taro Chiezo can be seen as a precursor to global communication as we know it today. The red painted urethane foam deer symbolizes a universal and adaptable being, while the antenna dish is used as a placeholder motif for modern communication. Chiezo holds a unique quality in his work, being one of the first artists to marry Japanese anime, (in the form of animals) with modern forms of technology, thus creating a hybrid, compound work.
