"Serena" (2004) is a sensual exploration of texture and form in this pure pigment, rice paper and canvas painting by famed Korean female artist, SoHyun Bae. Dimensions: 40 x 30 in. (101.6 x 76.2 cm). Unframed and in excellent condition. Western in theme, Bae presents a cropped image of the female nude, feeling like a Classical statue of Aphrodite than a portrait of a specific person. She combines this western inspired theme with Eastern colors and materials, namely her application of pure pigments in emerald and sapphire with delicate layers of collaged rice paper. This work comes directly from the Studio of the Artist and will ship from U.S.
SoHyun Bae has been greatly recognized for her concepts and methods, awarded: The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, The National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture Fellowship and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in Fine Art.
