"La Quercia" (2008) is a vibrant exploration of subliminal images that evoke memories a shared cultural history, by Korean Born, New York based Contemporary artist SoHyun Bae. As often seen in SoHyun's works, recognizable icons spring forth from the textured surface, like birds wings, suggesting the primordial emergence of hidden forms from otherworldly realms. In this way, the artist pushes viewers to recover the imagination and memory as if from the beginning of time. "La Querica" measures 31.5 x 23.62 inches (80 x 60 cm), and is unframed in excellent condition.

SoHyun Bae is a New York based artist, born in Korea, who received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2000, her MFA from Boston University in 1994, as well as a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University in 1997. She has been greatly recognized for her concepts and methods receiving such awards as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc Grant, The National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in Fine Art in 2007, among many others. The artist has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in major galleries and museums through US, Europe Asia, and South America and is included in the following public collections:
