Lot Details

"Skinny Lady VIII" (2008) is a painted cast bronze sculpture of a beautiful, Chinese woman who poses seductively smoking a cigarette and wears a purple bikini and lavender high heels, pops of color in contrast to her long, dark hair that cascades over her shoulders. This work is by famed multi-media Chinese Contemporary artist Shi Wei, whose subject matter revolves around the female form, with the image of the “beautiful skinny woman” now his trademark. This work measures 45.56 x 10.63 x 10.63 inches, is from an edition of 10 and is in excellent condition.

Shi Wei (China, B. 1965) achieved both his B.A. in 1986 and M.A. in 1997 at Hebei Academy of Fine Arts and currently teaches at the Beijing City University. He has exhibited for years throughout Asia, including the International Contemporary Art Fair in Hong Kong, the Singapore Art Fair, The Art Center of BIAC, Beijing, History Museum of China, Beijing and Yang gallery, Singapore and Beijing.
