Lot Details

Standing close to 9 feet tall, "Skinny Beauty" (2007) is a museum-level painted fiberglass sculpture in the round famed sculptor and painter Chinese Contemporary artist Shi Wei, whose subject matter always revolves around the female form, with the image of the “beautiful skinny woman” now his trademark. Here, a beautiful woman stands tall and poses seductively upon a round base, wearing a provocative corset, underwear, garter belt and heels all in tones of bright pink, in lovely contrast to her dark hair and her long legs, slender arms, and beautiful face all painted a luminous porcelain white. Each of Shi's woman has her own personality and identity, as well as physical characteristics and dress. The balance of seduction, the sheer-scale of this work and the Pop-Art inspired shiny painted veneer of "Skinny Beauty" all work together to make this work a sexy, light-hearted and celebratory work of art. This sculpture in the round measures 106.30 x 47.24 x 19.68 inches (270 x 120 x 50 cm), is edition 2/8, is signed by the artist and is in perfect condition. This is the first edition of this sculpture to ever come to international auction.
