Lot Details

"Taking Over" (2008). Painted fiberglass sculpture in the round. Edition 1/1. Dimensions: 23.62 x 7.87 x 7.87 inches (60 x 20 x 20 cm). Excellent condition. This one of a kind sculpture by famed Chinese Contemporary artist Shi Lifeng belongs to select series of unique sculptures created from 2008- 2011. Shi depicts Mao in a typical pose of control, pillar-like with one arm raised in salute, with denizens of Shi's iconic, miniature red figures crawling and playing upon the statue, whose surface is already covered in roses in full bloom, as if an old garden sculpture. This is the only sculpture of Mao that Shi has created to-date.
