Lot Details

In "Writing," Price creates a visually striking vignette from simple black and white tones. The work illustrates a figure with pen in hand, engrossed in writing, as the hand of another points toward the page. Sparse and ambiguous, this print from leading conceptual artist Seth Price allows for multiple interpretations.

Seth Price (b. 1973, Jerusalem) is a multidisciplinary conceptual artist who specializes in paintings, sculpture, media work, and video. He often manipulates and transforms appropriated materials pirated from music, published texts, and the internet in order to explore the mobility of forms in mass media. Price has had solo shows at Friedrich Petzel Gallery, New York, NY (2006, 2008, 2011); the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, England (2008); and Reena Spaulings Fine Art (2004, 2006), and Artists Space, New York, NY (2002), among others. He has participated in the Tate Triennial (2009); the Whitney Biennial (2002, 2008); the Biennale di Venezia (2011); the Gwangju Biennale (2010); and Documenta 13 (2012). Price’s work has been acquired by the Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY. He lives and works in New York, NY.
