Dali's "Currier & Ives" series puts a Surrealist spin on the classic images of Americana produced by Currier and Ives in the 19th century. It was published as a series of six lithographs. Each print contains a small image of the Currier & Ives print that Dali was inspired by. Here, we see Dali's illustration of two racing horses galloping alongside each other, with the Surrealist touch of a giant, disembodied insect's head hovering in the upper left corner.
