This vibrant chromogenic color print by celebrated American photographer Ryan McGinley belongs to the artist's "Moonmilk" series featuring photographs taken in subterranean caves, and reflecting the lush, hedonistic worldview that informs McGinley's iconic work. "Jake (Shining Rock)" belongs to a small edition of 3, and measures 6.5 x 10 inches (16.5 x 25.4 cm); it is framed under glass to dimensions of 18 x 20 inches (45.7 x 50.8 cm).

Ryan McGinley (American, b. 1970) came to prominence as an art world prodigy in the early 2000s, a rapid ascent that corresponded to the precocious, youthful subjects of his acclaimed photography. Depicting scenes of liberation and playful vice, McGinley captures young celebrities and artists, as well as his own friends and acquaintances, in riveting, provocative, and emotionally charged situations. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He lives and works in New York.
