"Sweet Dreams Baby!" is considered by many to be Roy Lichtenstein's most important early Pop print, and the artist himself called it his first "true" Pop print. With its dynamic, cartoon imagery, the artist eschews the emotional gesture of the Abstract Expressionists, and, instead, created something that appears to be machine-made and mass-produced. But Lichtenstein labored intensely to create that illusion - each Benday dot is hand drawn.
