Lot Details

10 bound platinum prints, each individually initialed by Robert ParkeHarrison and Shana ParkeHarrison, plus an additional freestanding fully signed platinum print of da Vinci’s Wings.

Text printed in monotype letterpress on hand made paper created specifically for these books by Twinrocker. Each oversized book measures 16 x 20” closed, and 40” wide when open (almost 4 feet). The large platinum print sizes vary, with most measuring about 11 x 14”. Enclosed in a custom-made matching portfolio case. The book itself, the freestanding signed print, and custom portfolio case are all in pristine, unused condition.

Very rare. Robert ParkeHarrison, in collaboration with his wife Shana, has made an international reputation for himself as a creative genius. Using discarded junk he has fashioned a world of fantasy and whimsy that is both intriguing and menacing, humorous and melancholic. Robert ParkeHarrison appears in a dark suit in each image, representing the “Everyman” who observes and toils to mend the dystopian Earth he finds in scattered disrepair all around him.

The 10 bound and 1 freestanding platinum prints included in The Book of Life are PERFECTLY printed, with the lush tones and textural subtleties uniquely possible in expertly executed platinum images. The photographs themselves represent some of the ParkeHarrisons’ finest and most sought-after images. These prints are available as hand coated platinum prints ONLY in these books. The poetry by award winning poet Morri Creech was commissioned specifically for these books, with each poem directly inspired by its corresponding photograph. The essays by editor John Wood and writer Lance Speer serve to weave the images and poems together to give the reader a rich understanding of each artist’s voice and vision. The Book of Life is one of the finest titles ever released by 21ST Editions, and has been sold out for years. This book represents the work of one of the world’s most visionary photographic teams - Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison - as interpreted by 21ST Editions, one of the world’s most visionary fine press publishers.
