Robert Indiana's dazzling 1967 color silkscreen "Purim: The Four Facets of Esther (II)" was commissioned by the Jewish Museum in New York for its annual fundraising celebration in conjunction with the Jewish holiday of Purim. The subject for this print was taken from the Book of Esther. This work is from the rare second version -- published in the very limited edition of only 60. It was created in the late Sixties -- one of the most influential eras in the Pop Art movement. Robert Indiana silkscreens from the 1960s are especially desirable, and works from this particular edition of only 60 are becoming more and more scarce, as so many of those that are extant are already in major museums and public collections.

Hand signed, inscribed with title "The Four Facets of Esther (II)" and dated 1967 by Robert Indiana, and numbered from the low edition of only 60. Bears distinctive blindstamp of printer Chiron Press. This uncommon print is fully referenced in the catalogue raisonne of Robert Indiana's prints, published by Susan Sheehan.

In September 2013, Indiana was honored with a major retrospective exhibition at the Whitney Museum entitled "Robert Indiana: Beyond Love."

This work was originally framed in glass, so there is some discoloration around the white outer margins (approx. 3/4 inch) and a small closed tear to the top margin which will frame out beautifully when re-framed. There is also some minor scuffing to the image itself, visible mostly up close, but otherwise a bright impression with strong colors and in good vintage condition.

The image measures 26.4 x 21.4 inches (68.3 x 55.5 cm) with the sheet measuring 31.9 x 25.75 inches (81 x 65.4 cm).
